Assignment of a uniformed law enforcement officer to a school by the Police Department to work in cooperation with the school administrators, students, staff, parents, and community members in the following areas:

Officer Broad has been a police officer with Bethel since May 2003, and was a 911 emergency dispatcher prior to that for 1.5 years. Officer Broad is entering his third school year as an SRO. Officer Broad has worked all different shifts on patrol, and has gained multiple certifications to enhance his duties as an SRO. Officer Broad is a Field Training Officer (FTO), an accident reconstructionist, a car seat technician, and the Captain for the department’s Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraising efforts to benefit Connecticut Special Olympics. Officer Broad takes pride in building and fostering positive relationships between the police and the students in school. It is Officer Broad’s belief that having those positive relationships will build a strong trust between the students and the police, and having that trust continue well into the student's life beyond the education system. When Officer Broad is not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids, rooting for the New York Mets and Dallas Cowboys, and traveling as much as he can. Officer Broad is available Monday thru Friday from 7am-3pm at Bethel High School for any questions, comments, or concerns.

Officer Beamonte has been an Officer with the Bethel Police Department for over 6 years. Ofc. Beamonte is a Certified Car Seat Technician and Crisis Intervention Team certified. She has brought many events to our community relations program, including the Stuff a Cruiser and Stuff a Truck, and has worked alongside Ofc. Fekeita with events benefiting the Special Olympics. Ofc. Beamonte graduated from the University of New Haven with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and is also fluent in Spanish. Ofc. Beamonte enjoys working with kids and is excited to be a new School Resource Officer!

Officer Amelia Fekieta

Bethel Middle School



Officer Amelia has been an Officer with the Bethel Police Department for over 6 years.  Ofc. Fekieta has been a member of the Bethel Police Department Bike Patrol Unit for several years and is the Special Olympics co-captain for the Department alongside SRO Broad.  Ofc. Fekieta has worked in both the Detective Bureau and Patrol Division and has also been involved in many community relations events, such as Trick or Treat Street and Coffee with a Cop events.


Ofc. Fekieta was born in Poland and moved to the United States with her family when she was 12 years old. Ofc. Fekieta graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Albertus Magnus College and she is fluent in the Polish language.  Ofc. Fekieta looks to continue working with the students and youth of Bethel in her new position as School Resource Officer.
